Through My Eyes

605th entry ~ Surgery is scheduled.

A lot has happened since I last posted. I’ve got so much running through my mind that I decided I needed to write again.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to all of you who are Irish and to those of you who pretend to be on this day.

Last Thursday was a chaotic day. Thursday I got sent home from work super early because apparently our team ran over our work hours, so we needed to leave early to save for what we figured would be a big truck on Saturday. Saturday was indeed a big truck, thank goodness I was not there. However, I did find out what they told us on Thursday was nothing more than a crock of shit. Apparently they wanted to see if they could get away with sending us home at nine, screwing us over on hours, and having another team do our job. Thankfully the other team did not do our job like they wished so we still rule. I think it’s the whole idea that they would be sneaky like that, that pisses me off. It’s a long the lines of them promising us we will go back to 4 trucks sometime, but now I wonder if that will ever happen. Also along the lines of our hours will pick up after March. I now wonder. I know this one though is dependent on the economy, so we’ll see. Guess I need to start looking for another job ASAP.

My other concern, which I just realized, my sample medications on my asthma stuff will be running out soon. I still have no health insurance. That’s why I’m a little leery about leaving my work because hopefully in six months time, I should become eligible for benefits. Now, I think they only do sign up once a year, so this concerns me. If only I could be healthy like many American’s and I wouldn’t have this issue.

Last Thursday I also took my bunnies home to be watched by my father while the boy and I were down in Chicago. Once I got home I also found out dad is now scheduled for a second hip replacement on June 2nd. Of course this worries me, but now on Friday we signed a lease and are moving at the end of May. So within a few days, I’m going to have to move once again and somehow manage driving back and forth to Madison a few times a week until he goes home. This will stress me out beyond belief, but hopefully things will go smoothly. Now that mom and dad are divorced, I feel like the rock is now placed on my shoulders to be the ‘rock’ in the family. I may not like this role.

As stated above, the boy and I left for Chicago last week. We left Friday and returned Sunday. It was an amazing trip, just like I had hoped. I’m so glad it turned out well. I’ve got a ton of pictures, a lot of the same thing of course, but a lot of pictures and a lot of memories. I got the pictures printed out today and will start scrapbooking them tomorrow as long as I’ve got the day off. We went to the top of the Sears Tower on Friday, a little after we got there. The cab ride from Union Station to the hotel was amazing, completely freaked the boy out. I gave the guy like a 120% tip. HA! Saturday was the parade of course, plus dying a section of the river green. We went to that but were so poorly seated we saw nothing. We went back later though and saw how green it really was. The parade was so packed full of people we really didn’t see much of it. We stood a ways back and eventually gave up after an hour or so of standing there. We wandered around a bit. Saw more of Grant Park than I thought we would, though we never saw the fountain. That made me real sad. Did lots of walking that day too. I’m surprised the next day when we woke up I wasn’t super sore. Sunday was a lazy day. We just waited around until it was time to check out of the hotel. Hopped on the train and got back into town a little after two. It was a great time and I’d like to do it again, but obviously money wise it’s not the best thing to plan for right now.

Speaking of money, I should probably check and see what my checking account looks like. Ha! The weather today was beautiful, very windy though but very nice. We went for a bike ride once we got back from shopping. That kicked my butt and showed how out of shape I really am. My work is very physical, but not the muscles that you need to use to bike. Ugh.
